Hi guys, I’m new here, and I downloaded the Android Particle Editor yesterday. It’s a very capable application, and exactly what I need, but I’m having no luck attempting to save the .plist file. I get no indication that anything has happened when I click, and neither can I find the file anywhere.

I also attempted to send the file in an email, using that button as well, but all I get is my email app popping up a blank email with the name of the Particle as the subject of the email. I sent it, but there is nothing attached or anything.

Help me out guys, I’ll be grateful! And I’m sorry if this is the wrong place to post this!

    Hi!
Are you referring to the Particle Editor app in the Android Play Store?

The version in the store is a bit outdated and more of a showcase application. You can run the full desktop version of the editor with the Felgo Sample Launcher, which is included in the Felgo SDK. You can then access the stored particles on your file system and e.g. use them in your Felgo games.
You can download Felgo along with the Particle Editor here.

Yes, that’s the application I’m referring to.

Do I need only the sample launcher, or must I download the full Felgo SDK?

    Thank you.

Edit: Also, is there an offline installer?

The Sample Launcher is installed along with the SDK, but you can also find a standalone Sample Launcher download here.
One additional benefit from installing the SDK is the possibility to access the full source code of the Particle Editor to make changes and build it yourself.

We only provide the online installer for the SDK at the moment because it has several advantages (e.g. low initial download size). Is there a problem for you with the online installer?

Thanks a lot for your help so far. I’ve downloaded the Sample Launcher and the Particle Editor, and I am able to save the plist files, thank you for that.

I’m strictly on mobile Internet which is why I was looking for an offline installer, but I suppose I need it no longer.

Now if you could graciously help me with one more problem…

When I load any of the included Particle Effects in cocos2d-x, I get an error when the Particle is triggered. If I make a custom effect, when it’s triggered, nothing happens. Is this something easily solvable?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

the Particle Editor was initially made for Felgo 1, where we also used cocos-2d internally. Since the switch to Felgo 2 we do not use cocos-2d anymore, so there might be some compatibility issue with Particle Editor and current cocos versions.

Even if cocos-2d support is not our main focus at the moment, we can have a closer look at the problem with the purchase of an hourly-based support package. If this is interesting to you, please contact us as support@felgo.com with some more details. As the full source of Particle Editor is available with the Felgo SDK, it is also possible to modify it to your liking or apply fixes yourself.

    Best,
    Günther
