    Michael

I installed Felgo 2 days ago and am now after a Startup Scan HitmanPro v3.7.14 has Red Flagged MaintenanceTool.exe.

This is the description given from HitmanPro:

    MaintenanceTool.exe

    Size 16.1 MB
    Time 2.2 days ago (2016-10-17 09:43:48)
    Entropy 6.6
    SHA-256 325BEC84B4505109061BBDCD46F186CAC566CD8C1E48D3D1690DAECF63815FF9

    Detection Names
    Kaspersky not-a-virus:Downloader.Win32.DownMan.ge

    Scoring (108.0)
One or more antivirus vendors have indicated that the file is malicious.
Authors name is missing in version info. This is not common to most programs.
Version control is missing. This file is probably created by an individual. This is not typical for most programs.
Time indicates that the file appeared recently on this computer.

    References
    C:\Users\me\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Felgo Engine\Felgo Maintenance Tool.lnk

I agree, to add a EXE tool to a program package and not add:

Authors name is missing in version info. This is not common to most programs.

    PLUS

Version control is missing. This file is probably created by an individual. This is not typical for most programs.

I find this very concerning. If this file is legitimate please rectify the missing information so Kaspersky and other Virus/Malware detection tools see this data files not as a security risk.

    Hi Michael,

Thanks for reporting! We are using industry-standard certificates and tools for signing our EXE installers. For our maintenance tool we currently can’t apply those actions, as the maintenance tool is created during installation itself. We will however have a look into that so that we can probably add the missing information to the binary.

    Thanks,

    Alex
