Hi — I’m looking to develop an app with Qt Quick and C++ for mobile devices.

From a discussion on the forums there, it looks like there’s no support for push notifications, such as the ones you get when GMail has a new email for you, or that news apps ping you with when there’s a breaking story.

Push notifications (if that’s the right term for them) would be an integral part of the app I want to develop, and would be pretty much the primary desired functionality.

Someone there suggested I head over here to see if you offer something that might fit the bill.

What we’d initially be after would be a notification to users when they’ve made a sale.

Is that sort of functionality something that’s available from yourselves, and if it is, what would it cost?

Sorry if this is a total n00b question, but I pretty much am a total n00b with Qt.

    Hi Doug!

Starting wit our indie plan, you can use Felgo Plugins for integration of analytics, social services, monetization and also push notifications.

We offer different plugins for server-triggered notifications (e.g. Google Cloud Messaging, One Signal or Parse) and Local Notifications. Local Notifications let you schedule time-based notifications locally on the device. For notifying users when a sale happened, I guess the server-triggered notifications are what you are looking for. The backend is then provided by GCM / One Signal / Parse and used to trigger push notifications for your app.

    Best,

    Ah, brilliant, so it’s do-able!

I guess our backend app would integrate with GCM or One Signal or Parse (are they three different options?) and push a notification to them, and they’d relay the notification on to the relevant users’ mobile apps?

    Thanks again for your reply!

Yes – exactly. They are different push notification services, for which we provide easy-to-use integration in your cross-platform QML-based app.

You can then manually trigger notifications from your account on their website or use their API to trigger them when needed.
Have a look at, e.g. our One Signal Plugin documentation to see how to send notifications with curl over the One Signal API.

I’m sure our Felgo Apps QML components may also help you to save some development time, you can have a look at our App Examples & Demos to see how it works.

    Hope this helps!

    Best,
    Günther
